Back to school

Yeah, well, I'm officially back to uni and real life. Started two weeks ago (on the 18th) and it's been bloody hard!!!! Now I'm really realizing how relaxed my situation was in A'dam... Phjoh! I've been sick with a cold as well since wednesday, and I've been dead-tired. This weekend I had family and friends of my parents in town; we celebrated my mothers 50th anniversary. It was so nice having them here - even my grandmother, aunt and uncle came all the way from Germany! It was a big surprise party, and we acctually managed to keep it a secret up until now! It was so nice!!! Except for the fact that I couldn't participate in everything, because I was laying around on my sofa watching stupid series :P But now I'm all better, and everybody's left.

To inform you briefly about what I was doing before Uni started, we started working on a musicvideo with my band. It was a lot of fun! We didn't do a lot, just a bit of research and planning, but here's a photo from one of the shootings

The background is in the center of Bergen: It's such a beatiful city I live in!?? I absolutely love being back :)

So, I know it's really early to start talking about it, but I'm from the north of europe, and we like planning things... What do you think about celebrating New Years Eve togehter? I am seriously considering Spain as a destination - I want to be somewhere it (hopefully) doesn't rain, with people I love and to eat 12 grapes. How about it, a New Years Eve to remember?

Lots of love,
Cathie

Bilbao

14 Sarphati people gathered in Bilbao for some days during "Aste Nagusia / Semana Grande". It was a revival of Amsterdam, although we weren't there and we are no longer Erasmus students. All thanks to Mario, who hosted all of us in his house (Thank you very much Mario!!).

Going through all of the memories from last year, jokes, adventure, etc........ I hope I get to talk to you tomorrow because I won't be home for the weekend(my time.)
Well, it's hard to do anything else. I miss you all. There is no other way to say it.

i feel like giving news today...

hey guys!!!

i have not written anything since today and even if im gonna see quite a lot of people in few hours now in bilbao i wanted to give some news to everybody.
My life is now relatively calm and quiet comparing our undescriptible year we had all together...It is almost one month for me now that im back in france and i spent most of the time working in a surgery room as testify the pictures( im actually writing this in the room two meter from the surgery table). I could talk about disgusting stories with blood ( i know that moflo is already exicted reading that, come down man) and destroyed human bodies.... for hours with everything i saw but i don't wanna shock the fragile people. I can simply imagine that my daily job is a mix btw grey's anatomy and doctor house without special effects.. i won't tell more about it but it is really cool.

Except that, i had some good parties with my friends even if the wiskhy with cocacola smells and tastes like all of you now, so it is quite hard to drink that with other people ( but don't worry i still do it). By the way i wanna say to some people ( adria and conde to not point them) that i quit smoking cigaret in amsterdam, the last one was on the trainplatform one minute before leaving and we bet until bilbao, im gonna win this bet for surrrrrrrreeeeee ( like someoneelse would say).
For the moment i have been on holidays just during a we ( yes im saving lives, i cannot do eveyhting...). I went to britain in english or Bretagne in french ( west coast ) with some friends ( i was fishing on a boat of 4 meters so next time i probably borrow the one that principessa spent her holidays on , ok??)).
i think i tried during the first weeks ( those that sucked a lot) to explain to my f'riends my erasmus but i stopped cause like we said before it 's impossible, not because of them but i could find the exact words to explain all the feelings that we shared and all the stuffs that we built.
i miss all of you so much but i also feel proud and full to have lived what we did.
so thanks
with love,
and see you really soon or unfortunetly later .

dr Robin VINCENT ( or almost dr...)

ps: im arriving at 6.40 pm at bilbao's airport on thursday, if someone feel like picking me up...it's a great feeling that should be realized...

In all humility...

Hey guys!

Is it ok for me to do some commercial here for my own blog? Just in case you want to have a look at it; I occationally write on english as well ;) http://krigogfredogsaann.blogspot.com/

I'm doing well, by the way! Back in Bergen - it's been so chaotic in my head and in my heart since I've been back. I think about you a lot, and I miss you still. University starts again tomorrow (!! crazy country = crazy people...), and I'm more or less ready for it. Will be good to do something again.

Yours truly,
Cathrine

Matadapera....candidate for next huge meeting!

I dont know if im going to be able to post a photo because Im kind of slow with this things, I was like 15 minutes trying to find were I could write. But don´t worry I´ll do my best (or I will call Mario) :).

This was on Monday in Adria´s second house ( well, I think we have to say Adria´s "residence" house) it is half an hour from barcelona " in theory" because I came with Joan Sola and we spend like one hour and a half to find the house following the Michelin route, we can say that he was making tourism to me. Whatever, the house is really nice, it has a pool as you can see.

We had a great time, but a lot of people were missing and is something we all noticed. It has been the best year of my life, the best decision of my life . Moving to sarphati was incredible, were I found the best family ever. Looking forward to Bilbao , miss you all....

“There is no place like home”‏

Sunday, 29-June-2008.

“There is no place like home” is what a friend of mine told me through a phone call when I was waiting for my baggage in the Airport of Barcelona. That made me think. I analysed his fucking inopportune phrase and I considered it from the point of view by which it really has sense for me. Of course there was not place like home, there was no place like Sarphati. In that moment this thought tore me up. I burst into tears; all the tears that I could not cry in our lovely and amazing Dutch city. All my friends were waiting for me in my village’s festival but I was not ready. I could not see anybody that night. I was psychically knackered. And still I am. And still I Amsterdam. Thank you for being as you are. I always will love you,

Joan

2nd meeting in BCN

August 6th, that was the day in which several Sarphati people (and one from Prinsengracht) met in the same place as in the first meeting in BCN.
Another time a dinner was the excuse to gather us, some from BCN and some visiting BCN... and again, so many Sarphati people were missing!!!

We miss you all

My Big Truck, Red Cup weekend

Hey everyone,

This weekend my friends decided to take me with them on a weekend trip to one of the lakes in Arizona. We left Friday afternoon and got back yesterday. The whole time I was there I kept thinking what all of you would think about all of it. Because I was having a culture shock, so I can only imagine. The huge trucks, the cheap American beer, the red cups, the fireworks they bring, the BBQs.

When we got there we were so busy talking that the sun went down and we still hadn’t put our tent up. This was great fun trying to do at 1:30 in the morning, and having help from our drunken neighbors.

Everyone there has their own boat. They buy all the parts and fix it themselves and then go out every weekend and on Saturdays too race. To bring their boats to the lake they ALL have really really really big trucks (don’t worry I took photos for you so you can see how big they were. I think the one with the ladder can give you an idea, or how my head doesn't reach the side mirror of the white one)

But it was a bit scary, these boats went up to 100 miles per hour which is about 160 kilometers per hour (I think). There was also cliff jumping, and a rope swing to jump into the lake. And a lot of people brought their water skis, jet skis, tubes………

The weather wasn’t so great though, I probably had to drink at least 10 bottles of water each day. One of my friends ran out of gas when he went out and he had to paddle back. Another friend’s battery died and they had to drive an hour to buy a new one. Another friend’s boat sunk in the water. And one hit a bolder in the water and broke his prop.

And now I’m back, and the funny thing is I’m still not used to being here. I don’t go more than 2 minutes without thinking of you guys. I miss you all, a lot. Wish I could be there to see you.

Kisses
Mahsa

Meeting in BCN

July 31st, that was the day that eventually the Catalan people arranged for the first meeting after leaving AMS... and suddenly Conde showed up!!!
We had a great dinner at Héctor's place trying to imitate the kind of dinners we used to have in Sarphati... There are no words to describe what we all felt, it was weird to met us again in BCN and not in AMS... but above all, the weirdest thing was to meet just some of us (11 people)... so many Sarphati people were missing!!! Be sure that we thought about each one of you!!!
We're about to go out... despite we won't go to Paradiso, we'll try to have as much fun as possible.

We miss you all and we love you..

See you soon.

Catalan people + Conde.
